Contains information pertaining to the following military units and organizations: Chief of Staff, U.S. Army Forces, Australia; Southwest Pacific Area and U.S. Army Forces, Pacific; Chief of Staff, Supreme Command, Allied Powers -- Pacific; Fifth Army. General description of the collection: The Stephen J. Chamberlin papers include general officer's papers consisting of initial operations instructions and their subsequent alterations issued by the headquarters of General Douglas MacArthur during his operations in the Pacific in World War II (primarily during 1944-1945 and to a lesser extent during 1942-1943). Some maps of those operations are also available. Personal and official correspondence of Chamberlin is considerable for 1942, but more limited for later years. The initial post-war period (the occupation of Japan in 1945 and early 1946) is well covered by official correspondence and orders, but the only items pertaining to his subsequent command of the Fifth (5th) Army are three personal letters (1949-1950) and one itinerary for an inspection of Camp Grayling and Fort Custer (1951).

The Union Barrack-Ades, organized in 1942 by Ada and Ernest L.
